In the first time you try CamStudio Recorder (I’m using version 2.6 on Windows 7), you may recognize that it seem doesn’t save your video screen cast or does nothing after stop recording.
This occurs because your video file is being saved in Windows temporary directory by default. To make sure it stores your video files in a specified directory and prompt to enter a friendly file name, simply follow these simple steps below.
1. Save video file in CamStudio Recorder
- 1. Open your CamStudio Recorder
- 2. Go to Options -> Program Options -> Directory for recording
- 3. Choose Use user specified directory …
2. Save video file with custom file name in CamStudio Recorder
- 1. Open your CamStudio Recorder
- 2. Go to Options -> Program Options -> Name of AVI file
- 3. Choose Ask for file name
Note: there are some cases that you can not save your video file especially with long video (> 5 minutes) even with the user specified directory setting:
- 1. Not enough hard disk
- 2. Exceeding the physical limit, ex: 4GB for FAT32 formatted drives
- 3. Insufficient permissions (write) on that folder
